DiCaprio to Star in Body of Lies

Leo的新片計畫源源不絕，正協商加入華納兄弟政治驚悚新片(Body of Lies)演出，改編自David Ignatius 暢銷小說.。

導演Ridley Scott將執導本片，找回The Departed金獎編劇William Monahan執筆，再度與Leo同台合作。

Leonardo DiCaprio is in early talks to star in Warner Bros' adaptation of the new David Ignatius novel, "Body of Lies."

Ridley Scott will direct the project, which reunites DiCaprio with screenwriter William Monahan, Oscar-winning writer of "The Departed."

DiCaprio's deal has to be negotiated, but he already has worked the picture into his busy schedule. He'll make it this fall after first reteaming with "Titanic" co-star Kate Winslet on "Revolutionary Road," the Sam Mendes-directed DreamWorks drama that shoots in April.

Scott already is scouting venues in Morocco for a film that will shoot in Washington, D.C., Europe and the Middle East.

DiCaprio will play an ex-journalist-turned CIA agent who's sent to Amman to work with Jordan's intelligence chief to track an Al Qaeda leader rumored to be planning attacks against America. Monahan and Scott aligned to the project last year, when Warner bought the novel, then titled "Penetration," by Washington Post columnist Ignatius.

Lionsgate has tapped Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural") to star as painter Thomas Kinkade in biopic "The Christmas Cottage."

Peter O'Toole also will star in "Cottage," directed by Michael Campus, penned by Ken LaZebnick and based on the events that led to Kinkade becoming an artist. Filming begins in Vancouver this month with the goal of a holiday release.

Padalecki's wrapping his lead role on the second season of the CW's "Supernatural." He's also appeared in "House of Wax" and "Flight of the Phoenix."

"Grindhouse" Will Re-Release as Two Films

Harvey Weinstein told DeadlineHollywoodDaily that he's "incredibly disappointed" with the half-than-expected $12 million box office for "Grindhouse." So much so, that he's considering abandoning the double feature as a single feature concept and re-releasing the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez movie around the U.S. "in a couple of weeks" as two separate feature-length movies with additional footage put in.

That's what Harvey says The Weinstein Company is already intending to do with the film's release in Europe: split it into two separate pics, Tarantino's "Death Proof" and Rodriguez's "Planet Terror."

He also pointed to several reasons why Grindhouse did so poorly in theaters over Easter weekend. "Our research showed the length kept people away. It was the single biggest deterrent. It was 3 hours and 12 minutes long. We originally intended to get it all in in 2 hours, 30 minutes. That would have been a better time. But the movies ran longer, the [fake] trailers ran longer, everything ran longer," Harvey explains.

Ewan McGregor On Board "Trainspotting" Sequel

Danny Boyle, the director of "Trainspotting," has confirmed that everyone will return for the much anticipated sequel.

Boyle has also given the clearest indication that the original film's leading star, Ewan McGregor, will be reunited with fellow actors Robert Carlyle, Ewen Bremner and others, claiming that "all the actors" have agreed to reprise their unforgettable roles.

Boyle has long talked about his desire to bring "Porno," Irvine Welsh's follow-up to the cult novel that spawned "Trainspotting," to the silver screen. However, the project has long been shrouded in doubt, with McGregor reportedly insisting that he does not want to be involved.

As recently as last week McGregor was reported to have said: "They can go ahead and do it if they want, but it will be without me on board. I read 'Porno' and I didn't think it was as good as 'Trainspotting.' There was nothing new in it."

But speaking this week at a preview of his latest movie, the science-fiction thriller "Sunshine," Boyle reiterated plans to bring "Porno" to the cinema and indicated that McGregor was on board.

Fraser In, Weisz Out of "Mummy 3"

Brendan Fraser has closed a rich deal to return in "The Mummy 3," but Rachel Weisz is not coming back, reports Variety.

Rob Cohen will direct the pic, which is expected to begin production late in the summer. It will be set in China and will introduce Jet Li as a villain.

Universal is planning a summer 2008 release; franchise has earned more than $830 million worldwide. "The Mummy" bowed in 1999 and "The Mummy Returns" in 2001.

Weisz has won an Oscar and had a baby since the last installment, has dropped out of talks to reprise her role. She has several other projects in the offing, including "The Brothers Bloom" and Phillip Noyce's Outback drama "Dirt Music," set to begin shooting in August.
