According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard and star Tom Hanks are in final talks to return for the prequel Angels & Demons.

The trade says that Columbia Pictures, which benefited from "Da Vinci's" $758 million worldwide box office earnings, has set an early January start date and has hired A-list casting directors Jane Jenkins and Debbie McWilliams to fill out the thriller's supporting roles.

Akiva Goldsman is adapting Dan Brown's novel, in which Harvard professor Robert Langdon tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave.

The studio is eyeing a December 19, 2008 release.



Shia LaBeouf Cast in "Indiana Jones 4"

Shia LaBeouf has now been set for the new Indiana Jones movie, it was announced by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. He will join Harrison Ford who returns as the action hero, the man with the hat and the whip.

Production on this fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventure is scheduled to begin this June in Los Angeles and will also film at undisclosed distant locations.

"We are excited about bringing Shia into our Indy family," said Spielberg. "His talent has impressed not only his audiences throughout his young career but the directors, producers and fellow actors who have worked with him in his television career and now his film career."

"I was hoping the rumors were true, so I couldn't be more thrilled," said Shia. "To be cast in an Indiana Jones film is like grabbing the brass ring and holding on for the ride. I'll do my best to meet the high standards that Steven, George, and Harrison have set and I can't wait to take that giant step in front of the Indy cameras."

Clive Owen's New Thriller

Columbia has landed Clive Owen to topline "The International," an action-thriller about an Interpol agent who investigates corruption at powerful banking institutions. The pic will be directed by Tom Tykwer (Run, Lola, Run), with lensing skedded to begin in September.

Eric Singer wrote the original script, and Mosaic Media Group's Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are producing, along with the Lloyd Phillips. John Woo, Terence Chang and Jeff Lurie are exec producing.

Owen, who previously starred in "Closer" for the studio, also stars in New Line's upcoming "Shoot 'Em Up" and "The Golden Age" for U. He's also been cast to reprise his role in the "Sin City" sequel.

New Line has set Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams as traveling companions in "The Time Traveler's Wife," the Robert Schwentke-directed adaptation of the bestselling Audrey Niffenegger novel.

Jeremy Leven originally adapted it with Bruce Joel Rubin rewriting. Shooting's set to start in August.

McAdams has long flirted with the project, about a Chicago librarian with a genetic disorder that causes him to time-travel when he is under duress. Though his disorder causes him to vanish for long periods, he tries to build a life with the woman he loves. She's a young heiress struggling with the arrangement.

Because the book was a bestseller, the film has been a constant source of speculation since New Line acquired it in 2003.



Brad Pitt Re-Unites with Clooney in "Burn After Reading"

Brad Pitt has signed on to join his "Ocean's Thirteen" co-star George Clooney in the Coen brothers' "Burn After Reading."

The black comedy, which also stars Frances McDormand, centers on a CIA agent who loses the disc of the book he is writing. Like the film's title, the screenplay is shrouded in secrecy, and it is unclear what role Pitt will play.

The actor will begin shooting the film in late August. Joel and Ethan Coen penned the screenplay, and Joel Coen will direct the contemporary project.
